2013 Vanguard Mansion Show

Electric City Couture Show was on the road to promote our 2013 Proctors Show!

The Vanguard Designer Designer Showhouse
The Stedman House
| 410 Loudon Road | Loudonville, New York | May 18. 2012 at 8:00 PM

Attendees got a Sneak Preview of the designers, models and designs of the 4th Annual 2013 Electric City Couture Show that was held at Proctors in Schenectady on May 24th in the GE Theatre. This was a salon style show, Parisian inspired! Attendees will be seated in the various rooms of the house while models walk a path from room to room.

The Vanguard Mansion Show is inspired by International Fashion Designer John Galliano’s career changing 1993 Parisian Mansion Show.

‘In 1992, Galliano and his team decided to try their luck in Paris. “We were hopeless romantics. We didn’t have money to eat. We were begging for cigarettes on the street. But sleeping on people’s floors was not a big issue,[1] he said. On the verge of bankruptcy, his plight soon came to the attention of Anna Wintour, Vogue’s Editor in Chief, and her international eyes and ears, Andre Leon Talley. They helped engineer what would be his breakthrough show. In October 1993, guests arrived at a faded hôtel particulier belonging to the socialite São Schlumberger, clutching rusty keys and handwritten invitations. Galliano’s supermodel pals vamped in dresses of black satin-backed crepe (one bolt was all he could afford). Women’s Wear Daily hailed it as one of the most transporting and memorable fashion happenings of the decade.’[2]

SPECIAL MUSICAL GUEST:

Live music by Petia Kassarova, cellist for the Albany Symphony Orchestra. Her pedigree includes working with such artists as Pavarotti, Yo Yo Ma, Joshua Bell, Rod Stewart and Tommy Lee of Motley Crue fame. Petia is a founding member of the ‘The Musicians of Ma’alwyck.’

For this event, in addition to other select pieces, Petia played Hymnus for solo cello by Mark Argent and two pieces for solo cello by Tim Janof.
